Update 12/10/2019
RipTen reports on a fascinating mod that turns GTA's camera inward, making the whole game into a first-person shooter (FPS). While it might sound like sacrilege, there are two reasons that the game might actually be better this way: more of the great city detail is visible, and Niko's sluggish controls and responsiveness isn't as visible or annoying. Worth a look!
Ever wonder what it would be like to terrorize the streets of Liberty City from a first-person perspective? Wonder no longer. Thanks to a mod created for the PC version, you can experience it yourself. From this new perspective Liberty City definitely looks more alive...
More info, and a movie, is available at RipTen.
Jesse Divnich predicts that next month's E3 Expo in LA will be the venue Rockstar chooses to officially announce their next-gen sequel Grand Theft Auto V. With the game widely rumored to be a return to the beloved San Andreas setting, they could be onto something here.

The Pig's review is spot-on, as usual.
